Guests with Children
Headlam Hall is a family run business and we welcome families with children of all ages. The information below is to ensure that guests with children have an enjoyable and relaxing time whilst making the most of the facilities on offer at our spa hotel for families.
There are 3 family bedrooms that have a double bed and a single bed (2 in the Coach House & 1 in the Mews) and we can also provide a cot on request (subject to availability). We also have 3 Junior Suites (Floral, Garth & Lavender) and one Premier Suite (Virginia) that also have a sofa bed in a seperate lounge that is suitable for a child up to 15 years old.
Mews Rooms as family units - There are 6 Mews rooms located on the ground floor. The rooms are interconnecting in pairs with each pair of rooms sharing a secure lobby that has direct access to outside. This means that if you book a pair of Mews rooms you effectly have two interconnected rooms with a private and lockable entrance to them making ideal family units. The bed configurations of each pair are as follows:
Alder & Ash - one twin room, one small double
Linden & Lilac - one twin room, one double
Willow & Walnut - one double, one family room with a double and single bed
Children are classed as under 16's and for under 4's we do not charge when staying in a cot in the parent(s) bedroom. Please note that our accommodation charges for children are bed & breakfast only with other meals charged as taken.
Restaurant Policy - children over 7 are welcome in the restaurant at any time and under 7's are welcome after 7.30pm when a private dining room has been booked.
For younger children we offer a children's tea menu available between 5pm - 7pm:

The Gardens at Headlam Hall are a great environment for children to explore and play and as well as a tennis court we have a grass area next to the court where other games can be played. Please note that ball sports are not permitted on the main lawn and that there is unprotected water in the gardens.
The Spa
Under 16's are welcome to use the swimming pool in the spa area daily between 8am-9am (10am on weekends) and 4pm-5.30pm, subject to availability and additional charges in some cases. Please note that children MUST be accompanied by a swimming adult at all times and that the outdoor hydrotherapy pool and heat cabins are not suitable for children at any time. Outside of these times the whole spa area including the lounge is designated as a quiet and relaxing environment for adults only but children are welcome in the Brasserie all day.
Golf
Juniors (under 16) who are knowledgeable golfers are welcome on the course and receive a 50% discount on green fees. We also have a PGA golf professional who specialises in junior coaching and would be delighted to offer tuition on the driving range and practice areas. Please contact the Golf Shop on (01325) 732113 for more details or to make a booking.
The well-being of all children is of the utmost importance at Headlam Hall and so we request that they are fully supervised by a responsible adult at ALL TIMES. There are numerous hazards around the hotel including open fires, stairs, hotel & farm traffic plus unprotected water in the gardens.
Attractions for children in the area include Raby Castle with its new Plotter's Forest, Locomotion at Shildon and Beamish Open Air Museum.
