Durham Regatta

As those summer days draw ever closer and the great British public enjoy a rather hit and miss few months of sunshine, we here in County Durham are getting rather excited for a special event.
On the weekend of 9th and 10th June, we will be enjoying the 185th Durham Regatta, sponsored by Prestige Student Living.
The Durham Regatta, is the perfect family day out, offering thrilling racing and a whole host of attractions including; live bands and performers, a selection of stalls and some delicious local foods.
Last year over 10,000 spectators came to watch and it’s not hard to see why. When the sun shines down on Durham and its beautiful World Heritage site, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
With various races taking place across the weekend, it’ll be hard not to get caught up in the live action, and we’re sure you’ll be picking a team and rooting for your favourite in no time.
If the boat racing doesn’t quite take your fancy though, there’s plenty more on offer across the weekend. Local traders flock to Durham for the event, offering a broad variety of wares, which means there’s plenty of opportunity to sample some free delicacies as they try to entice your custom. Food stands will be open throughout the day, offering a wide mix of tasty treats for you to indulge in.
If you’ve an appreciation for classic cars, make sure to head down to the bankside, where there’ll be an array of vintage cars on display - just like the ones at Headlam Hall!
