Say Bonjour from the Bowes Museum this May Half-Term

As May approaches - rather rapidly! - we think it’s about time to say ‘bonjour’ to that glorious sunshine and a big ‘au revoir’ to those wet and dreary days we’ve been having. And what better way to spend sunny, summer days, than with family and friends in the beautiful county of Durham?

If you’re looking for activities and events taking place throughout May that are guaranteed to keep the kids entertained, then we’ve rounded up a few of our favourite events happening in Durham.

Why not pay the famous Bowes Museum a visit for its Majestic May Family Fun Day on Thursday 31st May, which celebrates Queen Victoria in Paris.

The Bowes Museum is one of the county’s top tourist attractions, offering a range of events throughout the year which prove extremely popular with locals and visitors alike.

During the Majestic Family Fun Day, guests are invited to join a journey to France, the home of Bowes Museum founder, Josephine Bowes. Throughout the event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, you will learn about Queen Victoria’s time in Paris, the Parisian way of life and most importantly battle against your family to see who can build the tallest Eiffel Tower! The question is; who will be the winner? Mum, Dad or perhaps the kids?

There really are plenty of fun and exciting things to do in Durham during the May half term. Check out the This Is Durham website for information on walks, cycling tours, other tourist attractions and plenty more; it really knows how to celebrate the best of all our beautiful county has to offer!

And our idyllic country hotel is lucky enough to be situated within the rolling countryside of the county - how perfect!

So why not really make an event of it and turn your exploring into something extra special with our Spring Revival Break? For just £95 per person per night for a two night stay, or £85 per person per night for a three night stay, you can enjoy complimentary tea and scones, a three course A La Carte dinner each evening, a full English breakfast each morning plus full use of our luxurious spa facilities and a fantastic 10% off all spa treatments!
