Set out on a UK motoring adventure this summer and enjoy a warm welcome at Headlam Hall in rural Teesdale which sits between the Yorkshire Dales and the Durham Dales in the beautiful north of England countryside. Forget the passports, airport hassle and driving on the wrong side of the road! Whether you have a modern sports car or a beloved classic car Headlam is the perfect touring base or stopover on your memorable road trip.
We have been welcoming both modern and classic car groups for a number of years with many repeat trips. We have had the pleasure of hosting groups and clubs for Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche and Rolls Royce to name but a few with many returning year after year. There are a number of reasons why Headlam Hall is such a popular choice for both car clubs and independent car enthusiasts.
Great Location
We are located in peaceful, rolling countryside but just a 15 minute drive from the A1M and a perfect place for an overnight break when travelling between the south of England and Scotland. Our position is also ideal for car touring groups with the Yorkshire Dales, Durham Dales, Northumberland and Lake District all within an hours drive. There are some fabulous local driving roads that combine stunning scenery with enjoyable driving roads and pretty villages and market towns for plenty of coffee and lunch stop opportunities.
Great Facilities
Headlam Hall has 38 beautifully appointed bedrooms, comfortable lounges, a stylish bar and restaurant plus the added bonus of a luxurious spa and excellent 9 hole golf course. For groups we also have the Coach House building across the courtyard from the main Hall which includes a private bar/lounge and dining room for up to 80 people. Smaller groups of up to 30 can dine together in the elegant Main Hall Drawing Room that overlooks the terrace and main lawn of this Jacobean country house. We have a large car park and also the option of opening up the area around the fountain at the front of the Hall as a private parking area for up to 12 cars, a few more if you have clever parking! There is an area for trailer parking and washing cars in the farm yard if required.
Great Hospitality
The owners of Headlam Hall are avid motoring enthusiasts themselves with a small collection of classic cars and motorbikes. This means they love to welcome fellow minded guests and understand the needs of touring motorists and are often seen admiring the cars and chatting with their owners in the car park. The great team of staff at Headlam are also fully up to speed on the specific requirements of car clubs and will always help with information on local attractions, routes and those hidden gems.
Great Food & Drink
After a long day at the wheel the perfect ending is a relaxing sundowner on the terrace and a delicious meal. The food at Headlam is at the heart of what we do and utilises local produce including ingredients grown in the kitchen garden. There is also an extensive wine list. Whether dining as a couple or party of 80 the food is of the highest standard.
Headlam Hall also has classic cars that can be hired by residents for either a half day or full day to explore the surrounding area. This year the 'hire fleet' includes a 2001 Aston Martin DB7 Volante, a 1959 Jaguar XK150 and a 1981 Mercedes 380SL. Cars are available from May to September and live on-site at Headlam. They are also available to guests of our other property, the Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk.
We look forward to welcoming you, and your car, to Headlam Hall soon.
