Set out on a UK motoring adventure this summer and enjoy a warm welcome at Headlam Hall in rural Teesdale, nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the Durham Dales in the beautiful countryside of the North of England. Forget passports, airport queues and driving on the wrong side of the road! Whether you own a modern sports car or a cherished classic, Headlam is the perfect touring base or stopover for a memorable road trip.
We have been welcoming both modern and classic car groups for many years, with numerous guests returning time and again. We have had the pleasure of hosting groups and clubs for Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Bentley, Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche and Rolls-Royce, to name just a few. There are many reasons why Headlam Hall is such a popular choice for both car clubs and independent motoring enthusiasts.
Great Location
We are located in peaceful, rolling countryside, yet just a 15-minute drive from the A1(M), making us an ideal overnight stop when travelling between the south of England and Scotland. Our location is also perfect for touring groups, with the Yorkshire Dales, Durham Dales, Northumberland and the Lake District all within an hour’s drive.
There are some fabulous local driving routes that combine stunning scenery with enjoyable roads, along with picturesque villages and market towns offering plenty of opportunities for coffee and lunch stops.
Great Facilities
Headlam Hall has 38 beautifully appointed bedrooms, comfortable lounges, a stylish bar and restaurant, plus the added bonus of a luxurious spa and an excellent 9-hole golf course. For groups, we also have the Coach House building across the courtyard from the main Hall, which includes a private bar, lounge and dining room for up to 80 guests. Smaller groups of up to 30 can dine together in the elegant Main Hall Drawing Room, overlooking the terrace and main lawn of this Jacobean country house.
We have a large car park, along with the option of opening the area around the fountain at the front of the Hall as a private parking area for up to 12 cars - or a few more with some clever parking! There is also space for trailer parking, as well as facilities for washing cars in the farmyard if required.
Great Hospitality
The owners of Headlam Hall are avid motoring enthusiasts themselves, with a small collection of classic cars and motorbikes. This means they genuinely enjoy welcoming like-minded guests and understand the needs of touring motorists. They are often seen admiring the cars and chatting with owners in the car park. The excellent team at Headlam are also highly experienced in catering for car clubs and are always happy to help with local recommendations, routes and hidden gems to explore.
Great Food & Drink
After a long day behind the wheel, the perfect ending is a relaxing sundowner on the terrace followed by a delicious meal. Food is at the heart of what we do at Headlam, with locally sourced produce and ingredients grown in our kitchen garden featuring throughout our menus. We also offer an extensive wine list. Whether dining as a couple or as part of a group of 80, the food is always of the highest standard.
Headlam Hall also has classic cars available for residents to hire for either half-day or full-day experiences exploring the surrounding area. This year, the hire fleet includes a 2001 Aston Martin DB7 Volante, a 1959 Jaguar XK150 and a 1981 Mercedes 380SL. The cars are available from May to September and are kept on-site at Headlam. They are also available to guests staying at our sister property, the Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk.
We look forward to welcoming you - and your car - to Headlam Hall soon.
