It’s two years now since we launched a brand new self-catering apartment here at Headlam, to cater for the growing demand for more independent holiday accommodation in County Durham and North Yorkshire.
Tucked away out of sight with its own private garden and patio, but within the grounds of Headlam Hall, The Hideaway has proved to be a popular choice both with regular Headlam Hall guests and also with first-timers who are searching for that ideal holiday home, cottage or apartment near Barnard Castle on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales and Durham Dales.
Many of our guests have found The Hideaway to be “the perfect couple’s retreat”, and whilst you can really “self-cater” by cooking a gourmet dinner in The Hideaway’s kitchen whilst staying here, if you’d rather just pop down to Headlam Hall’s restaurant for dinner and a pre-dinner drink, or would like to have your breakfast in the hotel’s Spa Brasserie (our Full English Breakfasts are a house speciality!), then no problem.
When it comes to having “all mod-cons” The Hideaway is in a league of its own. Designed to a very high spec, the apartment has underfloor heating, a 60-inch TV with Sonos surround sound system offering an amazing home cinema experience, stylish kitchen facilities and a contemporary ‘pop-art’ décor vibe. The Hideaway really does give you the chance to hide away from the stresses of modern life. The apartment even has a mezzanine loft ‘chill-out’ area with sheepskin beanbags and skylight windows, and of course there’s your own private hot tub waiting for you outside.
Like most of Headlam Hall, The Hideaway is genuinely dog-friendly too. It is available for stays of two nights or more, with discounted rates for stays of four nights or longer, and less still for 7-night week-away bookings. And for those who love a massage or a round of golf, you can enjoy Headlam Spa or the Headlam Hall golf course, both of which are just a minutes’ walk away.
